    Interview With A Flat Girl

Hosted by Cecily and Mama Geek

So ... last Friday (for Photo Story Friday), I introduced you to Alexis' friend, Sally. I followed her through her day - took photos, and told you the story of "Sally's Busy Day". Some people said they would like to see Sally again and we might just see her again soon, but ... this week, we are going to meet another one of Alexis' friends for a Photo Story Friday interview.

    Interview With A Flat Girl

"It's very nice to meet you ... Flatsie."

"Thanks. I'm so flattered you picked me to interview."

"Is Flatsie your real name - or is it a nick-name?"

"It's my real name. I was named after my Aunt Flatsie, on my mother's side. My brother - his name is Flatten. My sister - her name is Flattest. My daddy - his name is Flatter and my mother - her name is Flattey. We're all flat. I'm the youngest in the Flat family."

"And ... where are you from, Flatsie? Where do you live?

"Well ... in Flat, Texas - of course."

"Is there really a place - Flat, Texas?"

"You've never heard of Flat, Texas? It's about 38 miles southwest of Waco. It's where all us Flats live."

"Is that your last name - Flat?"

"Yes - Flatsie Flat, of the Flatter Flats from Flat, Texas."

"And ... do you live there with your family?"

"Oh, yes. We live in a flat just above the filling station, across the street from the Flat Feed & Seed."

"Your hair is beautiful, Flatsie. Do you do it yourself?

"Thanks. Yes, I do. First I flatten it with the flat iron ..."

"Then I braid it. This is how I always fix my hair."

"What do you like to do in your spare time, Flatsie?"

"Well ... I like to watch a lot of TV on our wall mounted flat screen. And, I like to go to concerts. Last weekend I went to Waco with some friends from Flat, to see Rascal Flatts."

"So, you went to Waco. Do you travel a lot?"

"Not much. I don't want to travel too far - and risk falling off the edge of the earth. It's flat, you know?"

"Those are lovely shoes, Flatsey. Do you like shoes?"

"Boy - do I! These are the only pair of heels I own, though. Being as I am so flat - I usually wear - flats. I have lots of flats."

    "What is your favorite food?

"I'd have to say ... flat bread. My grandma Flat makes the best flat bread in all of Flat!"

"Thanks so much for the interview, Flatsie. I'll walk you to your scooter."

"Oh My! I have a flat tire!"

"And ... wouldn't you know ... I left my tire jack back at my flat in Flat and ... all I've got is a flat-head screwdriver here in my scooter trunk."

"I could give you a ride - if you'd like."

"No - that's okay. I'll just call my brother, Flatten - he'll come right over here and fix it in nothin' flat. He's an expert at fixin' flats."

"What on earth happened? Why are you lying on the ground, Flatsie?"

"Oh ... I'm okay. The wind just blew me over - flat to the ground. That happens sometimes. I'll just lie here flat on my back and rest a while until Flatten comes to fix this flat."

And, there you have it. An exclusive interview with Flatsey Flat, from Flat, Texas. I believe we all now know as much as we ever wanted to know about a ... flat girl.

*Note: This was my doll when I was little. She is at least 40 years old. I believe her name was Flatsie - at least that is what I always called her. These were very popular for a while - these little flat dolls. They came with all sorts of "flat" accessories - so cute (I still have her flat baby carriage - but no flat baby ?). I think they need to bring these little dolls back. The doll is only about 3" tall - not very big and ... she does look a lot like Paris Hilton - doesn't she?! Maybe she'll come back as Paris in a future PSF - that might be fun.

    Photo Story Friday

Hosted by Cecily and Mama Geek

I had another post I had intended for Photo Story Friday this week, but I am going to save it for another time.

I would like to use my You And Me post (below) as my story for this week. I published this story on Wednesday, but I think it is a post that tells a beautiful story - one of the best stories of my life, and I am not ready yet to push that post into my archives for no one to see again. I don't write enough about my precious twins and I worked very hard to pay tribute to my love for them through these photos and this post - I just want to keep it up a little longer.

So ... if you have not seen this post - I hope you enjoy it. If you have - thanks so much for coming by earlier this week to share my precious twins with me! And, if you just can't get enough of Kellan and all of her writing, you can go over to my blog at mySA and read the post I have up over there called, That Boy - He Knows A Little About This And He Knows A Little About That .

    Have a great weekend, everyone!

  • Time To Fix My Hair!

    Time To Fix My Hair!

I know - I haven't posted in a few days and I have had several e-mails asking where I am. It's not like me to go days without posting and visiting.

Do you see this cat and his bad hair? That's exactly the way I feel - and look - lately.

    Frazzled!

I have a very dear aunt that has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and I love her so much and can barely handle the idea of all she is going through and the thought of losing her. My heart is overwhelmed with sadness - for myself - for her family - for my mother. My mother left over the weekend to be with her sister in Indiana. Your prayers would be most appreciated.

My kids. As most of you know, I have two teenagers in high school, a son just starting middle school (6th grade) and little Alexis in 2nd grade. They are all going in a million different directions and I am right there with them - trying to keep up and trying my best to help them with their studies and activities. Not to mention my obligations on the PTA board and the committees I am involved with.

I have a bad cold and am miserable.

My house is in serious need of a thorough spring cleaning that I never got around to doing - in the spring! And so ... I've been cleaning closets - ugh! My yard has also been neglected and so I am spending some time cleaning up flower beds and trimming shrubs.

My cowboy husband - well ... let's just put it this way - we have not danced much lately!

I have got to take a little time away from blogging. Not only because of the stresses in my life right now, but because I need a break. I doubt it will be a long break, as I can't seem to stay away too long - but, for as long as it takes to de-frazzle some of the stress and chaos going on in my life!

I have drafted a post for Photo Story Friday and plan to publish it on Friday - if you would like to come back and read it. It's a little silly, but I got to practice using my Canon to take the photos for the story and ... to support MamaGeek and Cecily - whom I love - I plan to go ahead and publish that story (it's titled, Interview With A Flat Girl).

Thanks so much to all of those that were concerned and checked in on me by leaving comments or sending e-mails - I really appreciate it! Take care and I'll see you soon.

This Is The Sort Of Crap I Deal With Every Single Day!

    Photo Story Friday
(Sorry - can't get my PSF photo to load ????)

    Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

    Okay ...

    So ...

I have this cute little deck off of my second story bedroom that I like to go out on to be by myself.

I go out there to drink my coffee.

I go out there to look at the birds (no I don't - who has time to look at the birds - ACK!).

I go out there when I need to have a quiet place to think.

I go out there to read a book or a magazine.

I love my little deck and it is normally very peaceful.

    That is ...

Unless one of my kids searches me out ...

These are sticky notes plastered to the inside of one of the doors that leads out to my nice little, peaceful deck.

Let's take closer look - shall we.

This is a term of endearment my older daughter's have resorted to calling me.

Instead of ... Mom or Mother or Mama or Mommy ...

They call me MEH. Scream it out loud - go ahead. That's what it sounds like when Courtney or Chloe are looking for me in my house, "MEH!"

    Okay ...

Let's see what Courtney found so important that she had to disturb me on my quiet little deck and use my expensive sticky-notes to write me this long message.

She has been begging me for weeks, "Please MEH! Can I have a puppy for my Birthday. Please. Please. Please."

She is not getting a puppy!

Now get on outta here and let me look at the damn birds!
