There's a new girl in town, Jandra Dziaugyte with NEXT

The oddest thing happened when I photographed Jandra. Some guy came up behind me and started shooting her too. Maybe he was equally humored by her, "I can run faster in heels" t-shirt. Hmmm. Somehow I doubt it. Anyway, she's just arrived in New York and ready to take on whatever contracts NEXT models can get her.

Inna Pilipenko (NEXT NY) in Galliano and Marc Jacobs

Inna has an affinity for things high fashion. Besides walking shows like Marc Jacobs and Zac Posen this last season, she's seen wearing pants by Marc Jacobs and a belt by Galliano here.

Seen 1st @ altamira: Mirte Maas (WOMEN NY) and Tati Cotliar (NEXT NY)

    Mirte Maas, November 2009

    Tati Cotliar, September 2009

The first time I shot Mirte was right after her first runway season, before she shot the Balenciaga campaign with Steven Meisel, before she shot her first VOGUE U.S. editorial, and before she shot her first VOGUE Nippon editorial. She has since taken the modeling world by storm and most likely, your first street style shot of her was seen here.

If you look back in the archive history, you will also see that the same probably holds true for Tati Cotliar as well; my first street shot of her dating back to September 2009. You can also add Dree Hemingway to the list back in December of 2008.

What new faces do you think will surface a the couture shows?

With the weather being rainy and cloudy these last few days in New York City, I thought this photo of Karlie in her 1940's Betty Paige lock inspiration might brighten up everyone's day.

Besides closing 3 shows at New York Fashion Week and walking the likes of Prada, Lanvin, and Chanel, Anastasia's also made a presence in print with recent editorials in Vogue Russia and Another Magazine (shot by Josh Olins).

With her peppy and friendly presence every time I've met her, she deserves every bit of success the industry delivers her way.

Models Street Style: Catherine McNeil with NEXT Models NY

With the opening of the Metropolitan Museum's exhibition The Model As Muse: Embodying Fashion starting today, the May issue of Vogue U.S.'s pages on Models Street Style, an April model-centric Harper's Bazaar, and a new fashion month Models Off Duty section at Teen Vogue.com, I felt it was appropriate to celebrate the possible re-emergence of the model as a fashion icon by sharing an entire week's worth of models street style.

What makes these photos special is that they will all be from the streets of New York, sans any fashion month flashbacks. Imagine jumping in front of a model on the street, pausing very briefly while you study the face behind the sunglasses and opening with, "Hey, you're Catherine McNeil!"

  • Kyleigh Kuhn (USA): an afternoon with a Bruce Weber favorite

Kyleigh Kuhn (USA): an afternoon with a Bruce Weber favorite

Kyleigh Kuhn (Next, NY) came from California to New York to model. She made the move to Next Models after a meeting with Next's founder, Faith Kates. I had the chance to shoot Kyleigh when she was new to New York, fresh off a Bruce Weber set. What follows is an afternoon in the life of a top model, highlighting things that characterize Kyleigh: not a runway, not an editorial, not a campaign. Just Kyleigh, pure and simple.

2:00 planning/scheduling her next trip to Afghanistan for her charity work

    her living room wall

a close up of a piece on her wall, she decorated it all herself

those are real gun bullets she found on the street in Williamsburg

2:30 Kyleigh gets ready for a trip to the local organic market. She's an avid reader, showcasing her books alongside one of her favorite rings and pair of shoes

2:35 checking out her appearance before heading out

2:37 which included a side trip to her bedroom. I couldn't help but notice these vintage figurine cars and match boxes

2:38 and then notice this bona fide Fire Bat hanging on her wall

2:40 and all her jewelry choices

    2:41 my favorites

2:45 playing around with her vintage cabinetry

2:50 Kyleigh has an interesting selection of hats to choose from. They indicate her personality as much as her choice in books and vintage card deck.

3:00 she's off to the local organic market with her boyfriend

3:15 Kyleigh comes out with a baguette, fresh cherry tomatoes, aged parmesan cheese, baby arugula, baby spinach, lemons, and basil

    3:30 Kyleigh/caught sneaking a cherry tomato

    4:15 dinner is served
    Entree--olive oil, tomatos, basil, pasta
asparagus--fried covered on low heat for 15 minutes simmered in real butter
bread--both sides dipped in olive oil and pepper, oven baked for 8 minutes with goat cheese
salad--baby arugula, baby spinach, fresh squeezed lemon juice mixed with olive oil, pepper, and aged shaved parmesan cheese

5:15 last but not least, Kyleigh unwinds for some alone time on her fire escape, curling up with Hemingway and peace and quiet.

  • Fall/Winter 2010's Best Dressed Rookie Model: Ruby Aldridge (NEXT NY)

Fall/Winter 2010's Best Dressed Rookie Model: Ruby Aldridge (NEXT NY)

    At Paris Fashion Week

At Paris Fashion Week in the Tuileries

    At Milan Fashion Week

Ruby just completed her first ever full circuit of fashion shows during the Fall/Winter 2010 season in pristine standing. She opened Marc by Marc Jacobs, walked Marc Jacobs, closed Lanvin and even walked the Christian Dior show. And she's already following up on that amazing first season with equally amazing off season results as well: a major campaign with a major photographer and a new feature on Vogue Italy. <--click link to see

But what I'm sure everyone here will really appreciate is her consistent sense of personal style. Whether in trailblazing the Versace show in Milan or racing out of the Christian Dior show in Paris, Ruby always looked good and always had an amazing attitude. She was always willing to take an extra minute to itemize the clothes she was wearing for the photographers and she never did so impatiently either. In the craziness that pervades everything during fashion week, that says a lot about a person.

We'll be seeing more of her in the future for sure.

Sheer Reveal: Imogen Morris-Clarke (NEXT NY)

Whether outside of the DKNY show in New York or the Daks show in London, Imogen would always have an interesting story to tell about the clothes she was wearing. Apparently she was lucky enough to pick up these Phi pants at the store literally minutes before Phi shuttered it's doors.

Draw String Sports Touch: Anja Rubik (NEXT NY) exits the Ralph Lauren show

You'll probably be seeing a lot of sports references this coming Spring season on the sidewalks, as trickled down from the runways.

Amidst walking 35 shows this last season and Opening and Closing the Fendi show, Anja was spotted wearing these drawstring goodies.

Catherine McNeil (NEXT NY) leaves the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week

Catherine made a return appearance to the runway this season walking 5 shows from Prada and Blumarine in Milan to Hermès, Louis Vuitton and Stella McCartney at Paris.

If I'm not mistaken, she's wearing the Christopher Kane mushroom cloud top.
