2 Top Fresh Faces of Fashion Month: Frida Gustavsson and Jacquelyn Jablonski

    Frida Gustavsson (IMG Paris)

I've been posting on Frida since London Fashion Week, so am including an update on her power show appearances at Paris Fashion Week: Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Lanvin, Yoji Yamamoto, Viktor & Rolf, and Celine.

    Jacquelyn Jablonski (ELITE Paris)

Jacquelyn's (no relation to Constance) success began in New York with participation in 21 shows in total, including influential ones like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone, Richard Chai, and 3.1 Phillip Lim. In Milan she walked 10 shows in total, including Prada, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Bottega Veneta. Her shows in Paris read like a who's who of power shows: Givenchy, Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor & Rolf, Sophia Kokosalaki (closed), and Dries Van Noten. She is truly firing up the City of Lights.

57 seconds with Jacquelyn Jablonski exiting Giambattista Valli

    2:12 20 seconds, Jacquelyn's driver

2:12 26 seconds, getting photographed while walking

2:12 36 seconds, I like the collar on her white top here. Stop for photo = 2 seconds.

2:12 52 seconds, nice short details! Put on helmut = 9 seconds

2:13 17 seconds, time to speed across the Seine to the Tuileries

This little photo series documents the behind the scenes action of what it's like when models leave shows at Paris Fashion Week.

There's a function on my camera that gives me the exact point in time down to the second at which all shots were taken. So I took the time from the camera from each of these shots to demonstrate just how fast a model moves from show to show at Paris Fashion Week.

In this case, Jacquelyn was en route to Chloe in the Tuileries and (my) total time spent shooting her literally amounted to less than 1 minute.

  • Casting Director: Julia Samersova Adler, a behind the scenes power house

Casting Director: Julia Samersova Adler, a behind the scenes power house

Two years ago designer Brian Reyes hired Casting Director Julia Samersova Adler to comb through hundreds of models and edit down the choices for his runway show. Julia chose what was then the unknown face of Jacquelyn Jablonski. That's before Jacquelyn stunned the modeling world with her stellar Spring/Summer 2018 runway performances.

Clients have invested years now calling upon that same eye that picked Jacquelyn two years ago to stack one successful cast upon another. The list is expanding and reads like a Who's Who of clients from the modeling world: the DKNY show, the Sass and Bide show, VOGUE Italia, VOGUE Germany, J. Crew, Neiman Marcus, Patrick Demarchelier, and Mario Sorrenti. Put it to you this way, the demand for her services and the access to the best models from the best agencies she brings to the table on a global level is NOT shrinking.

The best part about Julia is that she treats each one of her models with a Tender Loving Care (TLC) that hopefully you can relate to in the above photo with her husband Andrew and new baby daughter, Violet. She runs the internet's first street style site soley dedicated to kids street style: Planet Awesome Kid a goal of which is to create resources for kids charities.

Go check out Planet Awesome Kid for your daily dose of cuteness (updated like 4 times a day).

  • Who will be the next big model? BCBG Max Azria will give a clue

Who will be the next big model? BCBG Max Azria will give a clue

Arizona Muse exiting the SS17 BCBG Max Azria show. She was virtually unknown at this time.

Want to know which show at New York Fashion Week will give the first clue as to who the next big face will be this season? Try BCBG Max Azria. It's on Day 2 of New York Fashion Week and comes before Marc Jacobs (mid week) and Calvin Klein (last day).

At this same time last season, Arizona Muse who was virtually unknown was already on Casting Director Russell Marsh's radar. She opened and closed BCBG Max Azria. Russell Marsh later cast Arizona for the SS17 Prada show and with Miucci Prada's final go ahead, Arizona Opened and Closed Prada.

A similar pattern of virtually prophetic insight by Casting Director Russell Marsh can also be understood by looking back at the SS17 and SS17 BCBG Max Azria shows. In SS17, Russell cast a virtually unknown Frida Gustavsson and Jacquelyn Jablonski. And for SS17, Russell cast a rookie face unknown to the public at the time named Constance Jablonski.

Granted, there are other shows and many other factors that contribute to a models runway success, but BCBG Max Azria because of it's place on the New York Fashion Week schedule on Day 2 is the perfect place to begin looking for at least one big new face, possibly the next Constance, Jacquelyn, or Arizona.

Be sure to check back on the blog on September 8/9th for an update from backstage at the BCBG Max Azria show as I've just been confirmed by PR!

  • 2012 New Years Challenges

    2012 New Years Challenges

Maybe that's what I want??? (Constance Jablonski)

Are you open to creative suprises? (Maryna Linchuk)

Wink at 2012, life is FUN! (Jacquelyn Jablonski)

Are you going to cover things up from yourself to avoid facing reality? (Jessica Clarke)

Are you going to keep secrets from yourself? (Joan Smalls)

Are you brave enough to be silly? (Behati Prinsloo)

Are 2012's challenges going to make you implode and lose sight of who you reallyare? (Adriana Lima)

Will 2012 bring surprises that make you pensive about being yourself (Anja Rubik)

Will you smile, being comfortable in your own skin? (Miranda Kerr)

Will you learn to "heart" yourself so you can learn to "heart" others? (Liu Wen with Anais Mali)

Happy 2012! The world's got loads of changes awaiting this year: a new U.S. presidential term, the Mayan Calendar officially ends (omg, omg I'm sooo afraid), and Facebook will finally go public.

Yet, despite any major external events, our happiness is always internally 100% our choice. It's not your boyfriend's job to make you happy. It's not your girlfriend's job to make you feel good about yourself. It's your job to choose happiness for yourself. My challenge to you guys is to let go of trying to control what others think of you in order to make space for you to be who you really are.
