Mercedes Fashion Ranger ride with Jessica Stam

Jessica Stam (Canada/IMG) relaxing before having to spend 30 minutes dealing with the Craigster (my nickname) looking for New York's next "Gazelle, legs on the loose"

It took some smooth talking and about 30 minutes to find someone whose legs qualified for what we were looking for. Here, Piper McEndarffer (L), Elaine Welteroth (middle), Jessica Stam (R) talk out the details

At 4 o'clock today I met up with Jessica Stam and rode at light speed around the Lincoln Center area looking for New York's newest Gazelle "legs on the loose". We were commissioned by Mercedes to find someone with legs literally like a Gazelle. It all kind of fit with the nature of my blog and Jessica Stam. After some small talk and about 30 minutes of driving around, we spotted our first "victim" walking into the back stage area at Lincoln Center.

Without hesitation, Jessica jumped out of the car faster than any Mercedes can go 0-60mph and told Elaine Welteroth (current Beauty Editor at Ebony) to "stop!". Mind you, at that point Elaine was still a complete stranger to either me or Jessica. Bold move Jessica.

After a couple of minutes Elaine agreed to let us take her picture with Jessica. Good times were had as you can see by the laughs above. I learned a couple of things about Jessica: most notably she doesn't take herself too seriously and she likes to cook. I love the genuineness of people when they can laugh at themself. Especially someone who by our cultures standard, has justifiable reason to take themselves super seriously.

Thanks to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Ranger program for sponsoring our ride together! High five to everyone involved for a successful mission accomplished.

Somehow, I have this pattern (click here for link) of always taking a photo of Jessica Stam with her right shoulder towards the camera. My pattern, her pose, or a combination?

Lindsey Wixson (Marilyn NY)Bubbly and friendly. Now that she just turned 16, she'll be able to walk the Paris shows without restriction, so it'll be interesting to see how well she fares. If you like interviews, you should read her's with W Magazine by clicking HERE

On Sunday night, I had the opportunity to go back stage at Miss Sixty. The visit allowed me to get up front and personal with everyone from Wichy Hassan, the co-founder and creative director of Sixty Group, to the make up stylists, hair stylists, and dressers as well.

In doing so, I learned that Miss Sixty largely seeks to recreate the values of the free thinking independently minded women of the early 70's in it's Spring/Summer 2018 collection. It's primary customer is what Wichy Hassan calls, "a new kind of superhero, a modern hero, a girl very strong..."

In the back I had the pleasure of meeting Valeria, a lead designer for the collection. When confronted with the quintessential question, "How is this collection distinct from last years?" she neatly summed up the differences into four parts:

    • Color--more shine, softer colors, hard and soft colors mixed.
    • Fabric--very "puffy"
    • High Waisted Jeans.
    • Inspiration through Pop Art and 70's culture.

The make-up stylists collaborated with this early 70's theme too as blacks were layered with blue violet and fine glitter around the eyes. The hair stylists contributed to the theme by creating edgy and disheveled styles with maximum movement.

Ultimately, I also learned that Miss Sixty is funding a new well for drinking water in Ethiopia and debuted a online shopping section at their site (misssixty.com).
